About KALINGA INSTITUTE OF SOCIAL SCIENCES (Kiss University)

Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences Deemed to be University (Informally KISS University) is a higher education department of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences ( K.I.S.S ). In 2017 the institute is awarded Deemed to be University status by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India in order to focus on teaching and research in unique and emerging areas of knowledge related to Tribal Culture, Philosophy, Heritage, Science and Technology, Linguistics and Literature and their link to diverse and multi-disciplinary modern fields of study.

 Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) is an educational institution in Bhubaneshwar offering bachelors and masters degree. The institute was started in by Achyuta Samanta and had 125 children taken from the slums. In 2020, the institute was reported to have 30,000 students from 62 different tribes.

 

Kalinga Institute of social sciences has Beginning in 1992, they have made concerted efforts towards inclusive education, women empowerment, tribal uplift and sustainable development. They have grown to become the world’s largest residential education institution for tribal children. They shows that, given access and opportunity, there is no limit to what indigenous students can achieve. It is their lifelong mission to ensure that indigenous heritage is accorded due respect and indigenous communities are empowered through spreading of awareness about tribal rights.
